Help to households who have been recently flooded

Posted on

There are a number of options available to households to help recover from the recent flooding across the County.

Please visit North Yorkshire County Council's website for further information:

Recovery Grant

The government is providing local authorities with Community Grants as part of the Communities and Business Recovery Scheme. This will be equivalent to up to £500 per household affected by flooding. It will help with recovery costs such as provision for temporary accommodation. In North Yorkshire this will mean a fixed payment of £500 for a propery that has been flooded.

Council tax support

The district and borough councils will also be giving council tax discounts for flooded properties. 100% discount will automatically be given for a minimum for 3 months even if you re-occupy the property within that time. If you are out of the property for a longer period, you should contact the relevant district council to apply for further support.

Flood resilience and repair grant

A further additional grant is available of up to £5,000 towards the cost of flood mitigation measures to protect your property against future flooding. Deadline for applications: 31/03/2016.
